    Die größeren glatten Flächen wie die Oberseite der Top-Plate sehen ja noch einigermaßen ok aus, aber alle Kanten und insbesondere die Aussparung für die Gravuren sehen meiner Meinung nach schrecklich mit der Folierung aus (habe aber ehrlich gesagt auch nie verstanden wieso die meisten M-Nutzer die werksseitige Folie auf der Bodenplatte der Leica Ms installiert lassen). Die in meinen Augen deutlich schlechtere Optik wäre mir die paar Euro mehr bei einem eventuellen Weiterverkauf nicht wert. Dann lieber direkt eine gebrauchte M kaufen und so etwas den Wertverfall im Vergleich zu Neuware von Anfang an entgegen wirken.

    11:25 Does the image-size downgrade in poste offer lesser grain?

    • @mhaustria
      @mhaustria 2 дні тому

      I tried that with some test shots at 18,36 and 60 Megapixel. And for me it would not make sense to shoot 60 to downsize it in post to 36 for less grain. I think it looked pretty the same. There is a video on UA-cam where the differences are shown, I just can not find it right now. The fazit was that you loose a bit of dynamic range if you a lower resolution. But I was not able to reproduce that, but I didn't try this specifically. My test is more about handling and feeling.

    10:40 It´s focused on the near forground - better focus in the middle of the distances in the picture. Like with the next foto at 10:50. That´s the reason why the picture of the M2 looks so much sharper, especially in the far background.

    • @mhaustria
      @mhaustria 2 дні тому

      If I remember right, I focused at 5 Meter. But I tried it also with the 21mm in a recent shoot (hot air balloons, will post it soon) and had the same thing happening when I focused somewhere in the middle. But honestly I don't think anybody would see that in a print. It's just for pixelpeepers.

    Couple of things: 1. It's _tack_ sharp, not tick sharp. There's an English expression-"sharp as a tack", which is a small broad-headed nail. 2. 07:28 If you want to see which lens was used, hit 'I' on the keyboard in Lightroom to review the Info 2 display.

    Wie sind die Leuchtrahmen bei analogen Ms bei Dämmerung zu sehen? Es gibt ja gerade Objektive wie Noctilux für dunkle Umgebungen. Verschwinden die größtenteils oder reicht denen das Licht?

    • @mhaustria

      Ich hatte bis jetzt noch kein Problem bei der M2. Sie werden natürlich immer nur so hell wie auch das Umgebungslicht ist. Da ist natürlich die M11 im Vorteil, aber wenn es mal so richtig dunkel ist, dann wird es auch mit dem Fokussieren eher schwierig. Ich such mir dann immer eine harte Kannte zwischen hell und dunkel.

    There is just so much wrong with this video. But when you mentioned how you add grain on the M11 to make it more "natural" looking I had to stop watching. Unless you have grainy vision this is just a "the old days were so much better" response. Anyway, if it makes you happy then I am happy that these old cameras get a second life. Just dont compare them and try to make the old ones look better than they are. Otherwise Leica would still build them....

    • @mhaustria
      @mhaustria 3 дні тому

      Leica still builds three different analog M models. If you would have watched to the end, you would have seen that I like both a lot and both have their advantages. For my point of view, sometimes grain can add space for interpretation. A totally clean image is a finished product. It's a bit like reading a book and not watching the movie. Give it a try.

    • @WetterFlug
      @WetterFlug 3 дні тому

      @mhaustria I don't and will not agree to your viewpoint on grain. Grain was a shortcoming of analog photography and manufacturers tried their best to get rid if it as much as possible. It's like using 24p for " cinematic" look. It emulated a look that we had to use at the time but it's in no aspect better than what we can use today. It's just nostalgia. But hey, if it makes you happy, go ahead 🙂 I have used plenty of analog film and enjoyed it then but have started in the late 90s with digital and finally completely switched over. It's just so much better. I still love to hold my old analog cameras in my hands...for purely nostalgic reasons 😉

    Looking forward to seeing your next video. I also have the M2 for my analog photography and I recently traded my M10 in on the M10 monochrome. I got the monochrome to replace the M10 since I wasn't shooting colour very much anymore. It is a great looking camera and takes awesome photos, which I plan to use to create digital negatives for printing large prints in the darkroom. Have to say that I love the M2 and Leica has always been my favorite camera. It is slowly replacing my large format gear since I don't like to lug all that heavier equipment around anymore. thank you. I digitised the first negatives with it and they turned out quite good. But my Screen Cezanne ( ua-cam.com/video/Oi3Tef3zZPE/v-deo.html ) gets so much more out of every negative, but it takes also so much more time to scan them :)

    Ich bin jetzt 60 Jahre alt und hatte eine teilweise ähnliche Reise. Erste Kamera mit 12 (Lubitel II) dann viel später eine Point 'n Shoot Olympus, dann Nikon F und danach eine Mamiya 645 Super. Zuletzt landete ich bei einer Sony A7RM3 mit einem Rucksack voller Objektive. Die Sony ist schon toll, aber letztlich war es das alles nicht. Jetzt bin ich bei einer Leica M240 mit Objektiven von 15, 35, 50 und 90 mm angekommen. Und hier bleibe ich. Es gibt in meinen Augen kein besseres Werkzeug als die klassischen Leica M für einen ambitionierten Amateur. Manche sagen, eine Leica ist sehr teuer. Das ist auch so. Ich musste mich ganz schön strecken, um zur M zu gelangen. Aber der Weg dahin war mindestens dreimal so teuer, als wenn ich gleich bei der M gelandet wäre …

      Vielen Dank für den netten und ausführlichen Kommentar. Ja mir ging es sehr ähnlich. Ich habe für meine typischen Porträtarbeiten immer noch meine 5D mkIII un IV Canon Kameras mit sämtlichen Glas dazu. Zusätzlich noch zwei analoge Canons EOS 3 und 5. Und viele weitere analoge (Mamiy 645 usw). Am liebsten Arbeite ich natürlich mit meiner 8x10 und einer Linhof Technika, nur kann man die halt nicht so einfach überallhin mitnehmen. Deshalb war die Idee geboren, mir etwas für jeden Tag zu gönnen. Ich habe viele tolle Kameras ausprobieren dürfen. Die Fuji Mittelformat war auch in der näheren Auswahl, da diese wirklich klein und toll ist. Aber am Ende habe ich mich bei der Leica am "wohlsten" gefühlt. Gut wars, dass ich noch gewartet habe. Vielleicht bekommt die M2 ja noch irgendwann eine digitale Schwester...

      Totally agree M with 35 and 50 summilux lenses is zen. I've spent so much time and money exploring other camera systems, film and digital Ms, many focal lengths, lenses of different speed and characteristics. At the end of all this, a Leica MP with a summilux 35 and 50 pair is what you will pry out of my cold dead hands.

      @@donald5378 I have one more that I learned to love. The Elmarit 21mm. I wanted to go wider, but didn't find anything small and fast enough. So out of curiosity I bought a used one. I just thought, that I sell it again if I don't like it. But now I love it. It's so nice to just stand in the middle of the street and wait that a scene in front of you builds up. It's wide and small enough that people don't think that they are in the frame. And capturing people where close to the lens gives you a feel of intimacy. Otherwise the 35mm is my go to lens.
